Bruce Buffer wants to see Conor McGregor and Georges St-Pierre go at it in the Octagon – but admits it is unlikely to ever happen McGregor has not fought since his defeat by Khabib Nurmagomedov last autumn on a night which was filled with controversy While McGregor has appeared no closer to a return to the Octagon, he has remained vocal on social media about his opponents and future opponents Fans are eager to see a rematch with Khabib, while a third fight with long-term rival Nate Diaz – with the pair currently tied with one victory each – would also be a popular choice “The Nate Diaz trilogy would be great. I am sure all the UFC fans would love watching that,” Buffer told Mirror Sport as he attended the PokerStars European Poker Tour Barcelona “I don’t think it is fair for Conor to fight for a championship belt; I think he should have a tune-up fight because at this point he has been out of the Octagon for so long ” But who should a tune-up fight be against? Buffer does not believe that McGregor should go small He said: “One fight I would love to see, I have always loved to see, but I doubt it will ever happen, is Georges St-Pierre and Conor go at it “I think it would be a huge mega fight.” Buffer says that being in the Octagon when McGregor is fighting is one of the most exhilarating experiences He recalls the night at UFC 189 where Sinead O’Connor sang a rendition of ‘The Foggy Dew’ as part of McGregor’s entrance before his fight with Chad Mendes as one of his most memorable moments “It is incredible,” Buffer said. “I think the most amazing night was when Sinead O’Connor was there a few years back and she was signing “Conor has got the X factor. He is such a strong and charismatic character that when he comes in, it adds a definitely energy and glow to the arena “There are a few other fighters like that but Conor is definitely at the top of the mound when it comes to that ” The PokerStars No Limit Hold’em Championship will take place during the European Poker Tour Barcelona at Casino Barcelona from August 20 to 24, 2020 The launch saw five Platinum Pass tickets given away which are valued at $30,000 each Click here for more information.
