Couple trying to sell furniture online say they lost $1,900


SCAM.>>WE WERE SELLING THE TABLE FOR
$2300 AND WE ENDED UP LOSING
$1900. BRIAN: WITHIN 24 HOURS AFTER
CONNIE DUFFEY AND HER HUSBAND
POSTED THEIR CUSTOM MADE POKER
TABLE FOR SALE ON E-BAY, THEY
HEARD FROM A BUYER THROUGH TEXT
MESSAGE.>>HE SAID HE WAS IN THE
MILITARY. HE NEEDED TO SEND US A CASHIERS
CHECK. BRIAN: THE CHECK WAS MADE OUT
FOR NEARLY TWICE THE ASKING
PRICE, THE BUYER ADDED AN EXTRA
$1,900 FOR THE MOVERS WHO WERE
SUPPOSED TO PICK UP THE TABLE. IT WAS SUPPOSED TO PAY THE
MOVERS?>>WE WERE OUT OF THE CHECK HE
PROVIDED US. BRIAN: SHORTLY AFTER THE DUFFEYS
ELECTRONICALLY TRANSFERED THAT
MONEY, THEY REALIZED THE MOVER
DIDN’T EXIST AND THE BUYER’S
CHECK BOUNCED. THEY HAD BEEN SCAMME
SCAMMERS ARE LOOKING FOR BIG
TICKET ITEMS LIKE THIS. MOST OF THE SELLERS HAVE NEVER
BEEN ON THOSE SITES BEFORE AND
THEY DON’T KNOW HOW THESE SCAMS
WORK. I HAVE WATCHED YOUR SHOWS
NUMEROUS TIMES AND I THINK I HAD
A LITTLE BIT OF A OH MY
GOODNESS, HOW COULD THIS HAPPEN
TO ANYBODY.
