How to Play Texas Holdem Poker for Beginners : Texas Hold’em Poker Hands

Hi my name Ernie Crespo with Expert Village
and today I’m going to teach you the fundamentals of Texas holdem. In this section I’m going
to teach you about the hierarchy in poker games. The lowest hand possible is a non pair.
I’ll show you an example of a seven deuce. Your next hand is a pair. It can be shown
as an example of pocket threes. It can also be pocket deuces, pocket fives and your highest
would be your pocket aces. The next hand is two pairs. Two individual pairs that beat
a regular single pair. The next hand that beats two pair is a hand called three of a
kind. Three of the same suit as denoted by the three fours. The next available hand that
beats the three of a kind is called a straight. Any consecutive five cards that are in different
suits as denoted by the two of hearts, three of hearts, four of diamonds, five of spades,
and the six of spades. All consecutively in a row. This series of five cards beats three
of a kind. The next series, the next main hand is considered a flush. The flush beats
any straight, any two pair, any three of a kind, and any non pair. A flush is comprised
of five cards of the same suit as denoted by the five, six, nine, ten and ace of clubs.
Notice they don’t have to be in any consecutive order as long as they are the same suit as
denoted here by the clovers.
The next hand is a full house. The full house beats any straight, any flush, any three of
a kind, any two pair, any pair. It is comprised of one single pair as denoted by the two eights
and any three cards of the same suit as denoted here by the king of spades, king of diamonds,
king of clubs, all to form a full house.
The next hand that beats a full house is four of a kind. A rarity in Texas holdem but once
in a while if you are lucky enough you will wake up with four jacks. Jack of diamonds,
jack of clubs, jack of hearts, jack of spades and ace of spades. Four of a kind beats any
full house, any straight, any flush, any two pair, and three of a kind, any pair and any
single non pair hand. And if you’re really in a lucky mood you might one day get a straight
flush, the next second highest ranking hand in the game of poker. This is a straight in
disguise six, seven eight nine ten but notice all of the same suit. Here as we see in clubs,
six of clubs, seven of clubs, six of diamonds, seven of diamonds, eight of diamonds, nine
of diamonds and ten of diamonds. This is considered a straight flush, a straight and a flush.
And finally the highest ranking hand in the game of poker. A royal flush, as you can see
here its a straight all of the same suit, here as we see ours shown in the form of hearts.
Ten of hearts, jack of hearts, queen of hearts, king of hearts, and ace of hearts. There is
no other hand higher than the royal flush. A royal flush must be with the highest cards
in the deck, the ten through ace of any suit.
