  1. I'm here, and I don't even play poker, and I'm not here because of Gieco TV commercial. Just happen to enjoy listening to the music.

  2. This song was stuck in my head for days, no lyrics just the beat. I just wanted to hear it so badly. And now I’m here. I don’t even like country other than like 4 songs. But boy am I glad I’m here.

  3. On a warm summer's eve
On a train bound for nowhere
I met up with the gambler
We were both too tired to sleep
    So we took turns a-starin'
Out the window at the darkness
    The boredom overtook us,
    And he began to speak
He said, "Son, I've made a life
    Out of readin' people's faces
    Knowin' what the cards were
By the way they held their eyes
So if you don't mind me sayin'
I can see you're out of aces
For a taste of your whiskey
    I'll give you some advice"
So I handed him my bottle
And he drank down my last swallow
    Then he bummed a cigarette
And asked me for a light
And the night got deathly quiet
And his faced lost all expression
He said, "If you're gonna play the game, boy
You gotta learn to play it right
You've got to know when to hold 'em
    Know when to fold 'em
    Know when to walk away
    And know when to run
    You never count your money
When you're sittin' at the table
There'll be time enough for countin'
    When the dealin's done
    Every gambler knows
    That the secret to survivin'
Is knowin' what to throw away
    And knowin' what to keep
    'Cause every hand's a winner
    And every hand's a loser
And the best that you can hope for is to die
    in your sleep
    And when he finished speakin'
He turned back toward the window
    Crushed out his cigarette
    And faded off to sleep
    And somewhere in the darkness
    The gambler he broke even
    But in his final words
I found an ace that I could keep
You've got to know when to hold 'em
    Know when to fold 'em
    Know when to walk away
    And know when to run
    You never count your money
When you're sittin' at the table
There'll be time enough for countin'
    When the dealin's done
You've got to know when to hold 'em (when to hold 'em)
Know when to fold 'em (when to fold 'em)
    Know when to walk away
    And know when to run
    You never count your money
When you're sittin' at the table
There'll be time enough for countin'
    When the dealin's done
You've got to know when to hold 'em
    Know when to fold 'em
    Know when to walk away
    And know when to run
    You never count your money
When you're sittin' at the table
There'll be time enough for countin'
    When the dealin's done

  4. I wonder if he was paid by the casino's, the alcohol and tobacco companies, or the federal reserve directly to produce this song.

  5. I love this song and I will live by the meaning when he says “ know when to hold em, know when to walk away, know when to run” basically you gotta pick your battles with people and situations. Some times it’s just best to walk away. I’ve learned the hard way and I finally figured it out thank you ❤️

  6. Every salesman knows

    That the secret to survivin'

Is knowin' what to throw away

    And knowin' what to keep

    'Cause every lead's a winner

    And every lead's a loser

And the best that you can hope for is commission you can keep.

  7. Dear Ken, I just saw my girlfriend. She says the town is trying to criminalize our relationship. Entrapment. All I want to do is l, and . But she says I'm too vulnerable!!

  8. @KennyRogers you need to join #JohnRich #BigAndRich #LeeGreenwood #FrankStallone #SylvesterStallone #RobertDavi #SpencerPratt #HeidiPratt #JoePiscopo #DrDrew #ClintEastwood #AntonioSabatoJr #PaulSorvino #SonjaMorgan & the many fine Patriotic Americans & legal immigrants that support & love our #BestPresidentEver #PresidentTrump #KAG2020 #MAGA ! 🇺🇸🏛🇺🇸🙏🏼😎💪😎

  9. This Mr. Rogers is better than Fred from the "Neighborhood" on PBS. Kenny and Fred Rogers are obviously NOT related to each other. If Kenny Rogers would come up with a TV show, it would be called "The Gambler's Neighborhood".

  10. Got to see him live in his farewell tour.. the gambler's last deal… so sad yet inspiring he just had either hip or knee replacement surgery and he was frail but damed if i wasn't still entertained!! Much respect to a true class act!! Thanks for sharing your voice with us Kenny you are indeed a wise gambler. Lol. But seriously; thank you for all the great memories!! Happy belated birthday.. here's to you ! May you enjoy your Retirement as much as you did performing!! It was an honor to watch you and listen to all your wonderful songs!! Thank you for impacting and improving my life. 🤠♠️♥️♦️♣️

  11. Saw The First Edition, Back when tickets were like 15 or $20! Now you have to spend too much money! I was lucky, I saw Bee Gees, Kenny, Alabama, Linda Rhronstat, and many others! I love all my memories! I grew up in the best of times!

  12. Jeez! Good thing I love music like I do. I requested explicitly John Denver songs. How is it I get; Kenny Rogers, dolly Parton and whoever else??? Ahh… The internet… Wave of the future!?
