Project xCloud: Gaming with you at the center

>>Our cloud engineers are
building a game streaming network to unlock console-quality
gaming on any device.>>There’s two billion
gamers in the world. Some of them have a PC. Some of them have a console. Some of them have a smartphone. Some of them have all three.>>What if everybody in
the world could play Halo? Or everybody in the world could
play Red Dead Redemption. Everybody in the world
could play the games. What would we have to do in
order to make that possible?>>In order to do that, we believe we need to build
a game streaming service.>>We see game streaming as
a great technology giving you access to the games
that you want to play on the device that
you want to play them on.>>Being able to
compute in the cloud and then stream to
whatever device I’m on, allowing me to play with
anybody. That’s powerful.>>When you think about
any other form of media, the idea that it’s locked to one device is just
totally absent. I want to be
the center of my world and I want the devices around me and
the services around me to be available wherever
I want them to be.>>What does it
mean to completely change the paradigm
of how we play?>>Well the first thing
people say is, “You’re crazy. You can’t build
a service like that.”>>What about latency? What
about the level of detail? What about the richness
of the game? Is my experience going
to get degraded?>>We are a gaming company with content and community. And we happen to also have a great strong first
party cloud in Azure. Makes us uniquely
positioned here.>>Azure supports 54 regions in 140 countries. And
we’re going build hardware to deploy into
those data centers.>>We have our first rack of console hardware in the data
center in Quincy, today.>>We’ve taken
an existing Xbox console, we’ve broken it out
into its component parts and can actually build a single blade unit that can host multiple Xbox systems
at one time. So, we’ve actually built not just the blades
themselves with the boards inside but all the infrastructure
associated with it.>>We have evolved the platform. We’re reading the data centers. We’re readying the network. We have increased bandwidth.>>We’re introducing new ways to do video encoding and decoding. We are going to be pushing the edge of what’s
possible even with 5G, which hasn’t been
deployed world-wide yet.>>So, how real is it?>>The first time
I played Forza on my Android phone,
it’s just amazing. You’re playing your favorite
game and it’s streaming.>>You’ll be able to play
with an Xbox One controller connected via Bluetooth and if you don’t have a controller, you’ll be able to play with
our touch input controls.>>I’m a huge console gamer, but now when I’m done with
the console or my son walks into the room and he
wants to play something else, I don’t ever have to stop gaming. Because I’ll be able to
game the games that I love on every device that I own.>>As we think about
this next step for us, the idea of putting
the gamer at the center is critical to how we goal ourselves in the gaming team
in the Xbox team. We love the device that we
build, our Xbox consoles. We want those to be world class, the best place to play.>>Consoles are still going
to be a flagship experience. You’re going to have
that immersive, high fidelity experience with
your amazing sound systems. It’s all right there. But we know not everybody on the planet is going to
go buy a gaming console. It’s actually about
choice for you.>>It’s amazing for
traditional console players because it gives them
another place to play. But what’s incredible
is for the people who haven’t been introduced
to this type of gaming.>>People who’ve never seen
a franchise like Halo, or ever seen
a franchise like Gears. It’s pretty amazing.>>We have it up
and running today. And when we have it just right, we’re going to scale it out in an epic way and deliver
it to the world.

  1. I think this will work better than stadia because Microsoft have different alternatives
    Streams? They got that
You don’t want streams? Use xbox game pass
You don’t want xbox game pass?
    Use discs or digital games

  2. Ya but what about the people that don't have high speed internet or just can't afford it. Will there still be hard copies that people can buy?

  3. I can barely get a stable connection to the Microsoft store on my XB1X😂 I'll give it a try before i pass positive or negative judgement though and I wish them all the success with these ideas and projects
I hope any venture by any company to help progress technology is successful

  4. Every major tech company is going to be doing this Amazon Google Microsoft Apple that means millions upon millions of data servers for each company in each city in each country that means there will basically be a war

  5. Why not just make Xbox game runs in Windows 10, Android and iOS? Not every place have 5g or fiber network

  6. I am just gonna say: Smart TV + xCloud .
Just hang that tv onto the wall and no more dust collecting furniture at home…and don't get me started with HMDs

  7. what is this I cannot believe it OMG I cannot wait for this really please launch it soon and tell us how to use it ??

  9. This is very exciting. I really love where Microsoft's head is at these days and how they have consistently worked away on their image and products background to become what they are today. I moved from apple products five years ago after being introduced to Windows 10 and the Surface products. I moved into Xbox gaming due to the cross-over with my PC and Xbox. I'm very excited about where they are taking things. Streaming and cross-play is absolutely where the next gen needs to go. I want to be able to play games with friends and family no matter where i am or what hardware i have on me. I really hope they manage to pull this off.

Ignore all the recent game announcements / ray tracing demos / CPU and GPU updates (although those are exciting too)…. this right here is incredibly exciting.

  10. I can imagine phones/laptops without any hardware in it just screen's and camera's. *You just need decent internet and good to go

  11. this is the future what i want!! xcloud with 5g network is the best and best ecosystem for streaming game!!! well done MS!!

  12. This is cool and all, but I've had mobile gaming systems that I just don't use a lot. When I'm out of my room, I don't want to play games because I want to get away from that kinda thing. If I want to play some big blockbuster AAA game I'm sure as hell not playing it on my phone. How many people do you see using remote play on playstation even if they have good internet? I know other people have different opinions but this is just me.

  13. A couple of questions from someone really considering this "game streaming"

    1. When you subscribed does it automatically allow you to play the games xbox offers or are you only paying to have "access" to the cloud and you still have to purchase the game?

    2. If I don't own any xbox and just want to get the streaming service, If you purchase the game via cloud do you keep the game or if you unsubscribe do you lose the game too?

    3. Do you need xbox controller to play the xbox games or can you use PC/LAPTOP to play xbox games with a mouse and keyboard?

    4. Can I access the cloud without xbox? Or you need xbox first before you can access the cloud then to other devices?

Thanks in advance, have good day! 🙂

  14. Another place to play only xbox exclusives
    Woop dee fucking doo
When I can stream any game on xbox to my phone, I'll be impressed

  15. Are stadia games collectible? I want to swap my games. Does it comes in limited edition?
Can I buy pre-owned Stadia. My internet is 10Mbps and capped at 1Tb.
I pray Stadia to end their business.

  16. Hey Microsoft, I don't mean to offend you guys, but the Data Centers from Google are actually fantastic. You guys need to build a relationship with Google. Microsoft and Google are so cool unlike Amazon, Apple and Facebook.

  17. I could already stream remotely via the Xbox One Companion app… but for some reason you blocked the ability to stream from PCs not on your home network when you announced xCloud!? Angry guy here….

  18. When I try to use my R/C flight simulator with my projector, its 200ms latency make it absolutely impossible to fly anything. What's the latency going to be to traverse the Internet, process at the server and get the rendered video back? It's got to be 50ms or less. Is that even possible?
